The ID of this beautiful beetle was not easy to find, because Chrysomelidae is a family of over 35,000 species worldwide in more than 2,500 genera, one of the largest and most commonly-encountered of all beetle families.
On the other hand, I have no idea about the ID of the flower (Asteraceae I suppose). Your help is welcome!

Cryptocephalus rugicollis Olivier, 1791
Family : Chrysomelidae
Subfamily: Cryptocephalinae

A male (female has only 2 spots on each elytron and is more elongate). Black legs and antennae, 3 spots on each elytron (typical form), and black edge on elytron.
This species forms numerous colour variations. It is a species, strictly associated with the Mediterranean belt; it feeds on various genera of Asteraceae.
Distribution: South Europe, from Morocco and Portugal to Italy; Northern Africa; and also occurs in North Aegean Islands and W Turkey (new record), the most eastest point of known range. Note the interesting interruption of its distribution.

hello Catherine,
beautiful light and colors, splendid macro photo!
"keep photographing!" TFS

Hi sevgili arkadaşım Catherine,

incredible macro shot of this pretty tiny Chrysomelid beauty perched on a beautiful flower?. The lighting seems very balanced and precise, good idea with the shallow DOF. Looks so clear and sharp, the saturation looks just right too. Well spotted and well captured MF!
TFS and iyi geceler!

hello Catherine, what a great macro shot for very beautiful Chrysomelid beetle and yellow flowered Asterid plant. every thing superb; from sharpness of focus and DOF to coloration and frame. But your notes and searching very nice, especially using references. I dont prefer copy and paste from Wiki. thanks a lot. ευχαριστώ.

Hi Catherine,
Certainly, finding the ID of beetles is difficult! abound here in Venezuela and I do not know the ID of none!
But talk of the picture! dear friend! I reiterate that you do art, just aim the lens! congratulations, each of your photos denotes natural talent to select the best angles and composing with superb taste! This photo is another great demonstration of this! thanks for sharing and allowing us to enjoy these pictures daily! I hope I learn, even a little bit, to take photos like this!

Merhaba Sevgili arkadaşım Catherine. :)

Sorry I had to be far from this site and you for a while, but I'm here again. And I missed your nice photos. Unbelieveable macro shot of this tiny bug, you show us here. The flower (and also plant) is as interesting and beautiful as the bug. I don't remember that I have seen a leaf with white pointed like this. Good work. Bravo and TFS.

Selam ve sevgiler, iyi günler sevgili arkadaşım :)

Ciao Catherine. Very well done this tribute to colours and light. Plesant detailed hostess on a beautiful flower.
