[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Some weekends ago I was for one more time in Almiri of Korinthos.
The sun was shining, so I decide to go for a walk inside the forest.
In my way to it, I saw a strange stone in the path and I try to pick it up.
There in the age of the path, two small butterflies trying to continue the mystery of life.
My C-50 camera isnít so good in macro shots such as this, and I try for one clear shot over fifteen minutes. And this one is one of the best, because I have forty others.
Iím happy because my card is very big and I want to say thanks to these two small creatures for not leaving and helping me to shot them.
Now I want some help for the ID

Hi Thodoris, what an exquisite composition. Great subjects, both have truly beautiful colours and tones. The background is blurred just right; I guess it was difficult to find background to contrast a little more. (A true nature shot doesnít use false backgrounds..) well done! I really like the foreground focus, and DoF just fab.

Regards Tim.

Πολύ ωραία φωτογραφία Θοδωρή. Για τα ονόματα ρίξε μια ματιά εδώ σε μια αντίστοιχη περιπτυξη ; -)

Hi Thodoris,
Beautiful butterflies so well depicted!
Superb macro work, and a good point of view is resulting in a fine classical composition...

Hi Thodoris,

charming picture of a couply of tiny Lycenids in lovely pose, with good details and the colours of grassland in dry heat of summer. And a very charming story, too.

Details are really good, considering the very small size of these Lycaenids.
The species is very likely to be:

Freyeria trochylus (Freyer 1844)
E: Grass Jewel,
wingspan: 18 - 20 mm.
distributed from a few places in Greece through Turkey into subtropical and tropical Asia and Africa.

With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

Hi Thodoris,
I think I like this one the best of the two you've put out lately. It's a very good capture of the two blues going for a regeneration! Not too intrusive but discreet and intimate enough to offer a holistic view of butterfly life with a good background, sharp details and bright colours. Thank you very much for this contribution,
Goran

Hello
Peter Stoeckl is right - it's Chilades trochylus. Very rare butterfly - I don't have ANY picture of these species in my database (European Butterflies and Moths).
I have to ask if I could add this picture to my database please?
