I'm back from a wonderful cruise in Europe! Still suffering from jet lag but eventually I'll catch up on all the wonderful pictures I missed.

I saw these flowers growing wild in a small village in Corfu and have no idea what they are. Hope someone can identify them.

Ulla and Ivan say they are pansies. I thank them for the ID. Pansies looks nothing like this in the states.

Hello Jane,
Nice to see you're back and I hope you had a good holiday.
This is a nice shot of a cultivated flower, or if you found it in the wild in Corfu then it is a garden escape. As Ulla says, this is a Petunia, one of many different colored cultivated varieties. Petunias originate in S. America and belong to the Solanaceae family, the same as potatoes, tomatoes and tobacco.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Very lovely flowers. I am always partial to any variety of violet. It is a spiritual color for me. Although my favorite is blue, violet can be tied some times.

This is "Mirabilis jalapa", popularly known as "marvel of Peru" or "four o'clock flower". This is also grown as a garden flower. For more details, please see,

Nice shot. But you could probably have removed those dry flowers before shooting.

Hi Jane :-)

Welcome back. Beautiful flowers. I just learned what a Petunia looks like, I thought they were part of the Nightshade family. Very well done with outstanding color and detail.

Welcome back, Jane!
The patterns in the petals are amazing! It does look like the Mirabilis jalapa to me, although the spotted pattern is very unusual

Hello Jane,
Welcome back Jane! I hope you had a good cruise!
This is a lovely capture of these flowers, sharp and the colours and patterns are very interesting. Well composed too. I'd guess they're cultivated and they look a bit like Petunias but I'm not sure.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Beautifulness of the flowers as well as the beautifulness of the shot is simply amazing. You managed to reflect all features of the plant greatly.
