|Lixus filiformis (Fabricius 1781)|
Lixus filiformis is a curculionid beetle 5-7mm long, very common in Cretan fauna. It was found on the wild plant purple milk thistle (Galactites tomentosa) and it consists a significant biocontrol agent of this weed. It oviposits in the main stem and lateral branches of host plantit and the larvae borrow it after egg hatching causing death to the lateral branches either the all plant.
