Megascolia maculata male

I have just presented Megascolia maculata in my previous post and I point out that males are smaller (3-4 cm) than females (5-6 cm) and they have a characteristic black head instead the orange colored of females. I tried to find a male on flowering plant in nearby hill. Now I post the male of M. maculata with black head searching nectar on Satureja thymbra flowers. I post two more characteristic pictures on WS.

Hi Nikos, for me your desktop settings are very good watching the quality of your pics,i can't see problems, the sharpness is excellent in the 3 pics, just the 1st WS seems a bit oversaturated. About my pic,i wrote in the note that quality is not good, but it's the only pic that i do about this rare specie and done from a long distance...have a nice weekend and thanks for you e-mail,Luciano

hi Nikos,
Very natural and pleasing shot of this male wasp. I like to take shots too of these quite photogenic insects.
Kind regards
Anne
