[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

No fungi from me today, but the technique is almost the same. :) Although Equisetum arvense, the Field Horsetail is not a protected plant species at all (featuring the National Pest Plant Accord in New Zealand, for example), I like it very much, because it's almost like a fungus from closed view, it's very photogenic by my opinion and I don't have to change my photographing style during shooting. :)

Photo: done on a field near Bükkszentkereszt village, on ca. 600 meters asl., on the roadside (typical habit of the species). Manual exposure, shutter priority, manual white balance. Except for adding a solid canvas and slight noise reduction / selective sharpening with Neat Image no post procession at all.

Thanx for lookin'.

Hi Wladek,
welcome You! Great photo of this fungi (sorry, I thought that this is a fungi) just near a road. Amazing colours. Great colours. Perfect composition. I'm dreaming about such a views now, during cold and short days.
Have a nice evening,

Excellent shot of plant and habitat. Interesting plant. regards Yiannis

hello László

beautifully composed photo of these plants
(the main plant and the other ones), with a very
fine POV and the way you framed them showing
us a beautiful landscape at the background,
with beautiful light and excellent contrast, TFS

Ciao Laszlo, gran bel fuoco sulla pianta che si innalza su un delizioso panorama, ottima luce, spplendida nitidezza e bei colori naturali, bravo, ciao Silvio

Hello Laszlo.
This is a beautiful capture and I love this setting. The exposure on the plant are very well controllable and the DOF is excellent.Best regards Siggi

Hello friend Laszlo! Hm m mmm.. truly interesting plant with remarkable similarities to the fungus as you rightly mention in your note. This time I read the notes carefully! ( I am still ashamed ) Well, simple lovely composition with pleasant sharpness and carefully chosen depth of field. F/10 seems a good choice. It created not to shallow and not to deep focusing field! In this regard, I think you did a great job, my friend. The background is also quite pleasant with fantastic brightness/contrast balance. The only think which I truly hate in every image I see is the man-made structures like the road here for example. Thanks God, there isn't some electrical posts around!
In overall, I think you did a good job friend Laszlo. Nicely presented species with pleasant visual impact indeed! Bravo!

Hi Laszlo.
I like work of compact camera and wide DOF. It is very impressive in many cases. This one is the same. Very attractive subject, superb details of the FG and main object – beautiful plant, charming place and nice some blurred details of the field, trees and clouds. TFS and best wishes.

Hello László,
A wonderful portait of the sporing heads of Equisetum. Though a road is not a desireable feature in a nature portrait, here ir works well to provide perspective in the portrayal of the habitat that is enough OOF to allow the main subject to stand out well, but sharp enough to provide a fine habitat BG from this ideak low POV. The composition is just right too.
Well done and TFS!
Kind regards,

Ciao Ladislao,
Grazie e complimenti
Buona giornata
Ciao Maurizio

A fine and informative photo indeed Laszlo, since we don't see Horsetail plant frequently in TN. Thanks MF.

Hello Laszlo,
Love your chosen point of view again. Interesting subject, these Horsetails!
They look very archaic. The road doesn't disturb me here, in fact it helps to create this wonderful perspective. Well framed and shown with perfect sharpness. Bravo!
Kind regards

Hello MF Laszlo,
it is beautiful to me too. Furthermore it is unique and I have never seen it before. I like seeing the spiralling flower, and you have preserved the surroundings very well. There are many more in the grass and they are supplementary to the one you highlight.
well done and your style is simply pleasant and exciting.

Hi Laszlo,a very common specie in my country too, very good point of view, great quality,i don't like the strees in background, maybe you could to turn your camera on the right....Thanks for share, have a nice day,Luciano.

Hello László,

For a while I wonder what kind of mushroom this is..!
But then I understand from the note (and a closer look) it is not, for instance there are some leaves there...
All together a fine capture, showing the plant in its natural environment!

Hello Laszlo,
Very nice photo but I think the road on the left could have been avoided or can be cropped off, and even a bit on the right to give a vertical format. Regards.

Hola Laszlo

Una original planta y bella al mismo tiempo. Perfecta composición al lado del camino.

Un saludo de Antonio

Hi Laszlo,
exactly the way I like documentary photographs of plants to be: presenting the plant in pleasantly dim natural light with perfect details, and showing how and where it is growing in its typical - or very unusual - setting. Taken into frame in a well composed way. All this is done here, really well done. Perfect portrait of Equisetum avense coming with a both matter-of-fact realistic and pleasantly inviting presentation of an Eastern Hungarian landscape early in May.
With thanks, and best regards,

Hi again Bro,

An unusual and beautiful plant. Very sharp, with great selaction of the background. The mostly green background and cloudy sky compliments the plant's color well.
TFS. Take care of yourself!

Hello Laszlo,
A wonderful shot of this interesting looking medicinal plant. I like the way you show it growing naturally along the roadside. Excellent detail and attractive colors. Nice low POV and just the right exposure. Great work!!
