[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

As I see, today is a bit experimenting day on TrekNature: posts of George, Maciej... So I'd like to share a bit of experiment also. The reason why I call my photo an "experiment" is the scene was captured with holding my bridge camera upside down, in order to avoid unwanted shadows and trying to flash directly into the maze-like, daedaloid pores.

The species on the pic, Daedaleopsis confragosa (Bolton) J. Schröt. is quite common in the Northern temperate zone, on logs of various broadleaved trees, but most frequently on wild cherry (Prunus avium). A very photogenic species by my opinion - even from underside!

Photo: made while I was lying on the ground, holding the camera upside down, manual exposure mode with flash. Post-procession: enhancing shadows and contrast, decreasing saturation selectively on the fruit-body; added simple frame, after re-sizing noise reduction and sharpening with Neat Image, signing.
In the workshop you can see the same specimen photographed with "normal" camera position (also with flash and manual exposure).

Thanks for your honest comments.

Hi Lazslo,i like a lot this tecnique,i used this style in my many pics of flowers from the ground forest and the result is always excellent. The best way to take the details of design of this mushrooms,i don't like the light reflections on the tree, its color too,so black,is a little strange.Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Laszlo,
It is really special to show a fungi this way. The porous surface is perfectly visible and the darker background with the blue patch ideal as contrast. Interesting to compare the two versions. I think both are interesting.
