Hi everyone,

New year - new species. As my 1st upload in 2013, I'd like to show you this fungus, Hohenbuehelia auriscalpium (Maire) Singer, for the 1st time on TrekNature. Less important, but a new location, even a new state in my gallery...

For more species info please read the species description on the homepage of our Mycological Association of Miskolc (use Google Translator). Also have a look there on some photos of the microcharacters. Identified by my friend Zoltán Lukács mycologist.

2nd record of the species in Hungary, will be published in Lukács (in prep.): Contributions to the macrofungi of Hungary pt. 5.

Photo: done in the protected Téb Forest (Carpineto-Quercetum robori) near Márokpapi, Szabolcs-Szatmár county, Hungary, during the conference 'National Mycologists Meeting'. Shutter priority, flash. PP: moderate cropping, adding canvas, after re-sizing only some sharpening on the gills and adding watermark. Workshop photo shows the upper surface of the fungus.

I hope you'll like the pic(s).

Hallo Laszlo
What a beautiful fungus with its off-white colour and lovely texture under the hood. I also like the natural sunlight in the image that lighten up all the beautiful details and colours to the best. The greenery around the fungus is striking and the contrast of colours great. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hi Laszio
Very interesting fungus. You have used light beautifully to capture all the fine detail and provided a dark background to define its features.

Hello Laszlo,
Like little white statues standing guard in the woods, so are these beautiful fungi of yours. Love the very low POV you chose as it gives them the illusion of being great towers on the forest floor.
Excellent detail and just the right exposure makes this an eye catching image and one to be proud of. Well done!!

Hello Laszlo,
You exposure sensitivity is well shown here with great use of flash to show the ventral surface and gills with top sharpness and lighting.
A new species for TN - congratulations!
Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Hello László.
I have captured something like this but the white was burnt with no details left in the frame. I like the details with gills and lichen on the trunk.
Excellent image and thanks for sharing.
