[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

Here in the Northern hemisphere now we have an unusually long winter, in some places like Hungary with massive amount of snow, in other places like here in Ireland with very cold winds and cloudy, rainy conditions. So I was very happy to find this otherwise common species, Sarcoscypha coccinea s. l., which grows late winter / early spring. Practically a species complex with numerous biological species, which differing mostly or only in microcharacters and phyllogenetic factors, so I'm not sure if I photographed S. coccinea, S. austriaca, S. jurana or maybe S. dudleyi - but I hope you like this bunch of scarlet elf cups.

Photo: made in manual exposure mode. PP: slight level and color adjustment, moderate cropping, after re-sizing selective sharpening on the closer cups.

Thanx for commenting.

Hello László,
Yes we usually find this species in the late winter/early spring in Sweden, but not usually so well exposed as here. Leaves and twigs usually hinder a good view.
But this is a fine capture on a nice substrate covered with moss. The sharpness is excellent and the natural colours make this an attractive image that is well composed.
Thanks and best regards to you!

Hello Laszlo,
Beautiful image with very natural colour with very perfect detail and colour.
best wishes,

Hello László,.
This is a strange specimen for me as the cup looks brittle which is not common in my backyard. The capture is pleasing with natural tone and details.

Hello László

These fungi with their shapes and color tones are
like eggshells Passover (des coquilles d'oeuf de Pâque) !
excellent photo with beautiful light, rich color
tones with great contrast, TFS

Excellent composition captured with fine details and clarity, lovely saturation of natural colours.
Thanks and best regards,

Bonjour Laszlo,
A défaut d'annoncer le printemps ces champignons annoncent la fonte des neiges... Une bonne composition, réalisée sous un bon angle de prise de vue, valorisant bien les sujets.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Wonderful image with bright colors and sharpness.

Hallo Laszlo
The colours in this image is so beautiful and they compliment each other so well. Further to that you share a very interesting fungus which I have never seen nor heard of before. It reminds me of a broken ball or broken coconut shell. What is the silver, shiny object lying in the right hand top corner of the frame, maybe a piece of pipe? Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hi Laszlo.
What a pictorial scene that is full of attractive subjects. Colours palette of the image is so impressive as well as different details of pictured objects. This is not a shot of fungi. This is image of the whole micro world. Bravo.

Hello Laszlo,
bnrilliantly coloured, precisely detailed, well composed presentation of that late winter mushroom bringing bright colours into that season of drab colours. Thank you!
Summer is still hesitating to come to Central Europe. It has shown up for a few days with excessive heat, but cold winds and heavy rain have been returning with snow in the mountains repeatedly even now. Good for all kinds if fungi ...
With best regards,
