Hello,

I'm sure you almost all are familiar with the "ear of the woods" on my pic. It's Auricularia auricula-judae (Bull.) Quél., the Jelly ear, Judas' ear etc., very common all over the world, from the subarctic to the subtropical area of both hemispheres, but lacking from the tropics. Used as a herbal mushroom, too, anyone interested in the topic please read the wikipedia article about the species. Growing mostly on elder (Sambucus), but also on many other deciduous trees and shrubs. Very common (although lacking from my gallery so far), growing all year, mostly in cold, but not frosty autumn and spring days.

Photo: taken in the forest of Castle Ffrench, near Ballyvoneen, Galway County, Ireland. Manual exposure mode. PP: slight level and color adjustment, after re-sizing selective sharpening on the closest ear.

Hello László.
Excellent shot at these ears that I have encountered a few occasions. Somehow I have yet to get a decent one for my archive. You shot here is marvelous with exciting details and natural tone. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

Excellent sharp image with natural colors.

Uncanny resemblance with human ear, Laszlo.
This is a marvellous capture of this unique Fungus you found in Ireland.
The image taken from a well chosen point of view looks three dimensional.

Hello Laszlo,
As always you have captured your subjects with precision and clarity. Attractive presentation and showing exceptional detail. You can definitely see why they call it the "Ear of the woods". Outstanding image!!
I noticed Stone posted an image of what I think may be the same type of mushroom. It looks like it is an older specimen, and is in pretty bad shape. This is the link if you care to view it.

Hello Laszlo my friend,
Sorry for my emotional outlook on this photo. What a perfect description!! It sends out a message to us the "supposed to be human" population, . . . "We are listening to the unselfish destruction of Earths natural treasures, . . the forests"!
Back to your photo, as your well known trademark; - perfectly in focus, NO BG noise, perfect low POV, excellent sharp detail and that almost "humanly" ear color makes it a perfect National Geographic Exposure! Excellent work my friend.
Best regards,
Carl

Dear Laszlo.
Thanks to your encouragement and fantastic set of comments to my pictures when I was absent I did all I could to came back. And bow I can watch and comment your works.

As usual you can find attractive subject and impressive low POV to show beautiys of the fungi. Composition is superb (I mean a nice arrangement of the trunk and pair of the fungi). Soft lighting and at the same time excellent details are looked nicely too. Warm greetings and best wishes,
Yours Alexei.
