Hi Trekkers,

This photo was shot not much later than I re-located to Ireland. The plant, which I've never seen before immediately caught my attention, as this is very common in the Emerald Isle (= Ireland). This is namely the Common gorse, Ulex europaeus, a semi-evergreen shrub which grows mostly in the Oceanic area of Europe. Most sources write it blossoms from May to July, but in Ireland I always found it a spring and pre-spring blossomer, even from mild winter times to late April / early May. Here on TN I found the most images of this species from New Zealand, where it's considered as an alien invader.

Photo: taken in shutter priority exposure mode. In Photoimpact white balance correction, color adjustment, selective sharpening, moderate cropping.

Thanks for your comments.

Hello Laszlo,
I can definitely see why you were fascinated by this lovely flowering plant. The bright yellow blooms are a real eyecatcher, especially against the bright blue sky. Nicely framed and displaying very sharp focus and vivid yet natural colors.
We supposedly have this species here in our western states, although I don't believe I have ever seen any. Great shot!!

Hello Laszlo - Yellow And White- this two colors are very dangerous to me. Most of the time, my picture gets over exposed. Nice to the way you have managed this situation and here comes experience and ability. Hope I will learn too in my future. Excellent DOF with splendid light and details. Blue sky is noiseless. Nice work my friend...Thanks for sharing with useful NOTE. Regards and have a nice Sunday - Srikumar

Hello Lazlo

Very beautiful image of Ulex europaeus. Here we have a similar species Callicotome villosa flowering in spring. Very good management of yellow, nice DOF and sharpness showing many details. I like the background of yellow to blue sky.

Hi Laszlo ,
a very crips and clear picture with nice natural colors.
You did well with both exposure and WB.
I think thorns up right is a bit disturbing.
Well done old friend.
greetings
Gert

Hello Laszlo,
It's a great catch. The details are superb as usual. The colors are great and the stark contrast between yellow and green looks splendid.

eighteen is a good number ...so let me add two valuable points and enrich your treasury, friend Laszlo ... despite your inanity towards the issues here ;) I have to congratulate you for your support during the years . ...... and to be faithful to my self, I would say: Great white balance .... stunning punchy and yet moderate colors, fantastic notes presented in a style and perhaps a slight over sharpening here and there, which maybe assessed by some Treknature tastes ! Have a Great, Great Festive Season Laszlo ... I wish you all the best!
Regards
