This was taken on the summit of a mountain on the Ring of Kerry at the very end of a winters day. It was the end of the day with a walk of 8 miles or more in the dark back to the car.

The negative was badly damaged by the developers unfortuantly and I have had to do quite a bit of editting to it in order to get it reasonably presentable.

BUT as you can see, the photo itself captures the last rays of light highlighting the estuary river and tinting everything pinky orange and with the silhoutte of the cross, makes for a nice landscape sunset with an added feature.

I don't know why there were 2 crosses at the top of this mountain, but this may be the summit of (North West ridge?) Knocknadober on the northside of the Ring of Kerry. This is the smaller cross.

The colours are all original - no saturation changes etc, only cloning has been used to restore the photo. For me, the photo is about the Winter Light and Winter sunsets... In summer, you might not get the same effect because the sun sets in a different place.

Light effects of this nature make interesting patterns both in the sky and on the ground.
The phenomenon is well captured in your picture here.

Hello Emma...
This is an awesome capture... like most of your landscape photography! The reflections from the water bringing life to the hazy scenery... Very good sense of depth provided by the foreground!
Nice job, congrats...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Fantastic!! That is all I can say. It takes the words right out of your mouth.

Breath taking! Very subtle, lovely background. The cross and the light seem to belong together.

Hi Emma
Another one of your stunning and captivating landscapes. The rays of light gives of delightful reflections and life to the waters of the estuary while the pertinent foreground and the cross gives perspective and impact.
Good composition, nice extended DOF, lovely exposure, and a great capture.
Well done again and TFS.

Loot

Hi Emma,
This is really good. You succeeded very well to keep the atmosphere of the scenery alive. To my opinion an amazing landscape. Fantastic sky and modest colours. Beautiful light, with golden reflections in the water. Very well done, compliments!
Thx and regards, Ruud

Wonderful shot Emma, from my native county and country. The light rays pouring down from the clouds onto the waters creates a very nice backdrop to the crosses. The McGillycuddy Reeks have some spectacular vistas from the peaks, if you get the right weather!

Hi Emma,
In this photo you have caught all the spirit of Ierland: with the celtic cross, the clouds and desolated feeling. Just wonderful atmosphere! You sure make the effort to get to the right places.

Hi!
Wow again!
Such a beautiful scenery and such a beautiful sunset. I like your composition very much, its almost a feeling of hope in it. The cross and the soft sunrays in the distance. It gives me a feeling of peace.
