Melitaea didyma Esper 1778

Dimensioni: apertura alare 35-50 mm. Descrizione: variabilità evidente sia tra gli individui che tra i sessi. Il maschio ha il dorso delle ali di colore arancione chiaro con macchie nere mentre la femmina ha le ali anteriori grigiastre. La specie è comunque riconoscibile per il rovescio dell'ala posteriore, bianco-crema, con fascia submarginale e macchie marginali arancioni. Queste ultime sono arrotondate o semicircolari, mai triangolari. Distribuzione e habitat: presente in tutta l'Italia continentale e Sicilia, in ambienti fioriti, margini di sentieri, pendii collinari e montani fino a 1800-2000 metri di quota. Le piante ospiti delle larve sono Plantago, Linaria e Veronica. Periodo di attività: gli adulti volano da maggio a settembre con più generazioni.

A picture with a clear oriental aesthetic, more precisely Japanese, the diffuse background appears to be composed of spontaneous brushstrokes, very Zen Clarity background and contrasts the delicate grass, wisely, with strong and defined colors butterfly, which seems strangely found in the shade, and in another plane of reality ...

Hello Sergio,
A difficult image to correctly expose since the subject is surrounded by some pretty strong lighting, but you have managed very well. The beautiful Spotted Fritillary is presented in perfect exposure while displaying it's vivid yet natural colors. Excellent focus allowing us to view it's unique wing markings and body features in fine detail.
