or Blue-headed Wagtail
(motacilla flava)

Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Motacillidae
Genus: Motacilla
Species: M. flava
Binomial name
Motacilla flava
(Linnaeus, 1758)

It is a small passerine in the wagtail family Motacillidae, which also includes the pipits and longclaws.

This species breeds in much of temperate Europe and Asia and has a foothold in North America in Alaska. It is resident in the milder parts of its range, such as western Europe, but northern and eastern populations migrate to Africa and south Asia. The American population, sometimes separated as the Eastern Yellow Wagtail, Motacilla tschutschensis, winters further down the Pacific coast.

This is an insectivorous bird of open country near water, such as wet meadows. It nests in tussocks, laying 4-8 speckled eggs.

This is a slender 15-16 cm long bird, with the characteristic long, constantly wagging tail of its genus. It is the shortest tailed of the European wagtails. The breeding adult male is basically brown above and yellow below. In other plumages, the yellow may be diluted by white.

The heads of breeding males come in a variety of colours and patterns depending on subspecies.

Very good capture of this beautiful bird, Andrea.
Great POV, colours and composition.
TFS and take care.

salve Andrea
mi piace il giallo dello sfondo,si mimetizza con il volatile rendendo il tutto moto naturale.
ciao GianPaolo

A very nice image, Andrea!
Very nice strong colors, excellent POV and framing. Lovely BG, too, that makes the colors of the bird even more vivid.
Bravo and TFS

Hi Andrea,

Well done on the effort.
It was pretty far to save the image which caused alot of noise and pixelation.

Hi Andrea,
Nice capture with perfect exposure and colour saturation. I also like the pose and the sharpness. Would have liked it better if the subject was bigger in the frame, but I suppose the model didn't want you to get closer.

bonjour andrea
ce doit tre un beau specimen tres color, mais je suppose qu'il etait loin ce qui expliquerait la qualit mediocre du clich.le BG etait pourtant assez joliment color.

bello scatto, anche se in post-production hai fatto vedere un p l'alone.

Hi Andrea,

Very nice bird this wagtail - you caught it really well, colours are great, bg fine.

We have them in .dk too, though the white ones are much more common.

Hi Andrea.
This is a very lovely and beautiful picture. I like its composition, framing and vivid colours. Exclusively successful DOF and POV, Very nice shot. But I've reduced some noise of the BG. TFS.
