Mantis religiosa
Picture taken on Elba walking up to the top of the highest mountain of the island - Monte Capanne (1018 m). It does not seem to be the European Mantis, but I don't know what species it could be.
As Emanuele told me this should be the European Dwarf Mantis

Hi Pierre,
Wonderful shot of this mantis is a fantastic 'boxing' pose. Immaculate sharpness and clarity and you have handled the natural lighting very skillfully. Excellent DOF, POV and composition.
TFS.

Hello Piere,

Good portret of the insect you have made. The whole body of the insect can be sharply seen. This is not an easy thing to do. Image beeing sharp even finesct details of insect's body can be observed. There is a fine match of insect's stone's and background's colors.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hello Pierre!
You are right, this is a mantid species, but not Mantis religiosa. As for me it is a member of genus Ameles, unfortunatelly there are a few similar species in Italy and I can not give you more etails :(
Best regards,
Radomir

Bella foto: la specie dovrebbe essere Ameles spallanzania!

Ciao e grazie, Emanuele

Wow Pierre !
What a great shot with good sharpness & details.I appreciate the POV & same color faded background.
