Azure Bluet
(Coenagrion puella)

The Azure Bluet has a fairly long and slender build. This black-and-blue or - in the case of some females - black-and-green damselfly is probably the commonest and most widely distributed of all European Bluet species, extending its range from Southern Scandinavia all the way down to the Mediterranean. Coenagrion puella's main distinguishing features include its thin but uninterrupted antehumeral stripe, the U-shaped mark on the male's S2, and the long, thin lines which run along the sides of the male's abdomen. However, the Azure Bluet can easily be confused with the less common Variable Bluet (Coenagrion pulchellum).

Hello Sergio,
what a beautiful capture of this Coenagrion puella! Great composition, vivid colors, fine details and blured BG.

Best regards, Leonid

Hi Sergio,
A beautiful capture of this Azure blue damselfly. But I would have preferred the whole damselfly in the frame. Anyway sharp details and a nice POV. Thanks a lot for sharing.

hello sergio

Ciao Sergio,
Grazie e complimenti.

Outstandingly sharp and colourful image of this pretty damselfly, Sergio, even though a bit of its abdomen is missing from the frame.
With its curious perch, it makes a pleasant composition.
Well done and TFS.

Sergio, Lovely sharp picture. Pity the right side is slightly cut. Ganesh
