Great Peacock Moth

Great Peacock Moth, is the largest European butterfly, unable to reach the 166 mm wingspan. I have not encountered this year, but normally, in the areas I frequent, in the spring is easy to find these winged giants

Ciao Stefano!
Complimenti: bravo.
Ciao! Vanda

Hi Stefano,
wonderful portrait of a well grown male of Saturnia pyri slowly climbing up a tree. A most impressing sight that I also cannot enjoy each year (although that moth was first described from Vienna). I do not remember having seen a portrait from that angle that to me is much more exciting than the normal view from above. It seems perfect to report the giant size that is also pointed out by the frame filling diagonal composition. Thank you!
With best regards,
