SEE WS TOO
A nice surprise in the park, where I found a rare specimen of gray squirrel with white legs, a variant of the same species that I recently posted.
Class: Mammalia
Order: Rodentia
Family: Sciuridae
Genus: Sciurus
Subgenus:Sciurus
Species:S. carolinensis
The eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), also known as the grey squirrel depending on region, is a tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus. It is native to eastern North America, where it is the most prodigious and ecologically essential natural forest regenerator.Widely introduced to certain places around the world, the eastern gray squirrel in Europe, in particular, is regarded as an invasive species.n Italy there are currently three isolated populations: one in Piedmont (Candiolo, in the Turin area), introduced in 1948 and booming despite eradication projects , one in Liguria (Genova Nervi, introduced in 1966) and the last one, still in Piedmont, on the border with Lombardy (Trecate, in the province of Novara, introduced in 1994). The species is found in several parks in the north of Milan (Monza and Ticino parks). The species is widespread in Turin in the Valentino Park on the banks of the Po, causing the almost total lack of the common indigenous squirrel.
CALZE BIANCHE
Una bella sorpresa nel parco, dove io ho trovato un raro esemplare di scoiattolo grigio con le zampe bianche, una variante della stessa specie che ho postato recentemente. |

Hi Luciano,
White legs or not, this is the same invasive species, an alien pest... Anyway, both photos (including the WS) are good, probably the latter one is more spectacular due to the squirrel's pose (albeit the image looks overcropped), while on this one the curve of the tail's looking lovely. Well composed, interesting photo - although not such extraordinary IMHO as your previous post.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
hello Luciano
very nice picture with good sharpness
gr lou
Bonjour Luciano,
Le cadrage serré met l'écureuil en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'écureuil gris. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.
