[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm posting something very different today! More some kind of an experiment. I took this picture of flying cormorants last weekend and really liked a lot the distributon of the birds. What was however awfull was the dark grey sky.

This shot is not heavily PP, but what I tried here is basicaly the result of a drastic change in white balance (the orginal was in RAW) and givng the shot more saturation and contrast.

About the title: the idea for the title and the background colorwas inspired by the German Lufthansa Airways, whose yellow-black logo is quite similar. Since 1926 Lufthansa uses the Crane in it's logo and is therfore known as "Kranich-Air" (Crane-Air).

HI Mike!

Very cool effect of black and yellow. Great composition, and very minimalistic style. It works very well, and its something different from the standard blue background normally associated with birds ;-)

Hi Mike.
The formation of the birds flying is great, though I would like to see a bit more room in the image for the front one to move into, just a bit tightly cropped.
The silhouettes against the yellow looks nice, gives the image quite a nice art look using natural subjects.

This is such a brightly colored image, I had to click on the thumbnail when I saw it. I really like it's simplicity. You should submit it to Ducks Unlimited.

great compo (although just a little bit more space in front of the leading bird would be perfect). Great colours not looking artificial at all. Great result with just changing white balance

J'aime beaucoup cette composition. Noir sur jaune, les silhouettes de ces cormorans sont très agréables à regarder. Bravo! En te souhaitant une très belle année 2008!
