Skadar Lake, Lake Scutari (Albanian: Liqeni i Shkodrės, Serbian: Скадарско језеро/Skadarsko jezero), is a lake on the border of Montenegro with Albania, the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. It is named after the city of Shkodra in northern Albania (Shkodėr in Albanian, Scutari in Italian and Скадар/Skadar in Serbian). The origin of the name comes from the Greek "Skoutari".
Its surface, 6 m (20 ft) above sea level, can vary between 370 km² (142.9 sq mi) and 530 km² (204.6 sq mi), of which 2/3 is in Montenegro. The lake is a cryptodepression, filled by the Morača River and drained into the Adriatic by the 41 km (25 mi)-long Bojana River, which forms the international border on the lower half of its length.
The Montenegrin part of the lake and its surrounding area were declared a national park in 1983. Area 400 km² (154.4 sq mi) (40.000 ha)
It is one of the largest bird reserves in Europe, having 270 bird species, among which are some of the last pelicans in Europe, and thus popular with birders. The lake also contains habitats of seagulls and herons and is abundant in fish, especially in carp, bleak and eel.
Average depth is 5-9 meters but there are holes called "eyes" that are even 60-90m deep.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

A wonderful high view over this very beautiful lake!
You controlled the exposure very well here and managed to get good details and color out of both the darkest and the brightest parts of the frame.
The composition is also lovley and enhances the perspective and depth of the shot while the colors are gorgeous and well saturated.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Mark!

The Emerald colour of the water and the vegetation - added to the high point of view - make this picture an outstanding one. The small foreground is very important in order to give the picture the depth of view and to avoid the effect of a picture taken from a plane. It even could be a bit larger.

Kind regards

Markus

Ciao Mark,
splendido paesaggio, bellissima composizione per i contrasti dei colori creati dalla ricchezza della vegetazione sia lacustre che montana, molto buona la nitidezza, fantastica luminositą e belli i riflessi.

What a pretty place. I'm glad it is preserved as a national park. I love the light you captured on all the greens. There is a wonderful sheen on the water. It is a very pleasing composition with that curve of the lake and the vista far off to the distant mountains.

Hello Mark,

The elevated point of view often is a good choice, as it adds a new dimension to the landscape!
I notice the fine details and the colours are natural...
The varied light adds life and the image has a good feeling of depth!

Greetings,
Pablo -

To ujecie tez fajne. Czy bylo robione z drogi prowadzacej w kierunku Albanii? Fajny dlugi pierwszy plan i dobrze oddany niepowtarzalny klimat tego miejsca
Pozdrawiam
