Cute furry animal isn't it!? :-)

This moths is characterized by the presence of golden-yellow haris on the tip of the female abdomen. It is used to make a safe cover for the laid eggs. The male may be determined thanks to the three grey dots visible on the forewing (see the picture).
The species is commnon in whole Europe. The adults fly from June to August. Caterpillars feed on various plant species including Quercus spp., Salix spp., Populus spp., Crataegus spp., Alnus glutinosa and others.

This individual was fotographed on some 1050 m asl, at night on the bank of the Biogradsko Lake in Bjelasica Mountians (see my other shots from Montenegro).

Hi Michal,
Many thanks for another excellent goody from your rich repertoire! An outstanding macro-shot of an interesting little moth that is sparsely represented in the Swedish fauna! A very valuable contribution and note,
Goran

Beautiful catch. Especialy the "electrized" look-like hair.

Regards, Petru

Witaj Michale,
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
Jerzy

Hi Michal,
this is a lovely insect - with a feather-boa/stola on ?!? A white lady, very pretty.
Sharpness is excellent, TFS, bye

Michal bonjour, excellent and strange capture with this beautiful moth. Colors of wings are gorgeous!! Congratulations Didier.

Swietne datale i głebia ostrosci.
Bardzo mi sie podoba!
Pozdrowienia :)

plume d'oiseau ou papillon?

Aptness of the photo for the site: excellent.
Personal assessment of the note: complete.
Thank you very much Michal.

Hi Michal, I find your image of this moth very striking. The exposure is spot on so the white is fantastic. I love the detail in the wings and in those hairs on the legs. Nicely done :)

It is like a feather!!!
Great shot!

I wouldn't say it's cute and fluffy!
This little moth has extremely irritating hairs that will get on your eyes and skin if you threaten it!
Good shot with good lighting.
It is very well composed and sharp.
Well done,
Joey
