[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yellow-bellied Toad - Bombina variegata scabra (Discoglossidae) one of only 8 descibed species from this family and one of three presented in Europe. This species is divided into four subspecies: the nominative one is known mainly from Central Europe, subspecies pachypus from Italy, ssp. kolombatovici occurs in Dalmatia, and ssp. scabra inhabits Balkan Peninsula.
It can be found even in small puddles where both adults and tadpoles live.

Interesting is that the Balkan Peninsula was a very important refuge during last glaciation, not only for Bombina variegata. This area was not only a very important place where many plant and animal species survived "cold period" but also a place from which many species started new colonization of European continent.

Picture was taken in Kotor (SE Montenegro), about 200-400 m from the old town. As in a case described from the Obodska Pecina cave also this time I was exploring nature with a company of cedryk who - again ;) - did not collect any amphipods.

Hi again, Radomir

This is a wonderful post! This little yellow-bellied toed looks very nice :)
The textures on its back are very well visible here - a characteristic feature for this species - and also small parts of the yellow patches on the underside.
The POV is very nice, the details are clean and clear and the exposure is very nicely managed.
Very good presentation, aslo.

Bravo and TFS

Czesc Radek!

Chyba jestem większością ludzi... bo mnie wydaje sie obrzydliwa ;-))))

Nice content displayed. Good note too, Radomir.
No critiques; nevertheless the FOF is a bit at the edge. My opinion;-).

Not a very attractive subject, but none the less a fantastic shot showing great details with a good all around exposure. :)
