[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There are more than 30,000 kinds of spiders. Scientists believe there may be up to 50,000 to 100,000 kinds. Some are smaller than than the head of a pin but some are larger than a person's hand. One kind of spider, a South American tarantula is measured at 25 centimetres but that is with its legs extended.

Most people think spiders are insects but scientists classify spiders as arachnids. Insects are different in a number of ways. Spiders have eight legs but ants, bees, beetles and other insects have only six legs. Most insects have wings or antennae which are feelers. Arachnids include daddy long legs, scorpions, mites and ticks.

Scientists classify spiders as either true spiders or Tarantulas, according to certain differences in their bodies such as the way their fangs point and move. In addition, spiders can be grouped according to the way they live. Web spinning spiders spin webs to catch insects. Others lie and wait for insects to come.

This is another experience with the pov and the low light. there was some sun and the spider was sitting between the leaf. I could come till 10cm. He let me do that, otherwise he was missing his prey. I made some shot with another pov and this was one of the best. I used Neat for some noise. I hope yo like the result,

A very good capture Jaap.
This spider is taking on a large victim,it must have been some wrestling match going on there!
The details are good considering the poor light you had.
Composition and POV are great.
Good work,well done.

Quite a good picture of this crab spider. The DOF is perfect where it counts (even though we would have liked to see the weevil too !) in spite of the adverse conditions.
Excellent travail !

Very good capture of this action scene.
The quality is not the very good, did yo do a big crop?

An interesting scene. The photo would be better if from another angle. But good capture. Congratulations and thank you.

Hi Jaap, poor old weevil! There's no survival for insects once they have been bitten by a crab spider. Good capture with an excellent POV. Very well done.

Nice capture Jaap. Have you tried to shoot this scene from a higher angle? You could have a better Dof there for both the spider and the beetle.
It's difficult subject(s) to shoot. I think you got a good result.
Well done.

Jaap, this is a great moment.

Excellent pov and composition. Your picture, although dramatic, shows how life goes on.

I tried a little workshop.

Superb moment Jaap! Cruel but very interesting. POV and composition are great. Very interesting note also.

Jaap, Great action captured and I really like your POV and composition..These crab spiders are usually very small..Very well done!

Excelent shot, Jaap.
Well done on this composition, poor weevil.
Excelent work.

I ran out, later

WOW, Jaap what a moment you captured here for our viewing pleasure. Love photo and lots of details. Very well done.

Great moment you have captured here Jaap. The beetle is sure down and out.

The colours look very good and natural and I like the composition. These little spiders really are very strong - I have seen them kill a fly twice as big as their own size.

Well done.
