[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Insects call at the average Dutchman especially associations on with tease certainly, punctures and problems and not with a nice snack. Well there are insects in 98 countries are eaten. Worldwide edible insects there are approximately 1400. The most important groups are: grasshoppers, caterpillars, termites, fiddle and beetles. Insects have a high feeding value: endosperm quality varies of 30 percent in maggots up to 81 percent in the eggs of wasps. For the comparison: chicken and thin flesh contain wide 20 percents endosperm, maes 10 per cent. Also insects contain many vitamins (especially vitamin B) and minerals. This way its grasshoppers richly to iron, zinc and magnesium. Eating one kilo grasshoppers stands right with consuming 11 hot dogs, 6 pizza's or 5 piglet macs. The conversion of vegetable material to flesh is much more favorable at insects, than at cows. For example, for one kilogramme beef you need 10 kilogrammes corn feed, whereas for one kilogramme caterpillar flesh only 1,5-3 kilogramme tree leafs is necessary. Foods of Insectan thus perhaps a solution for the world food problem. You will never no.

Yes when I go for fishing I saw Ollie, so I called him the grashopper. And I had to take a shot of him. So I did. He let me do it. The distance was 12 cm on the super macro, and the result, I like it and I hope you like it to.

Yes! a great macro of Ollie, Jaap!
An excellent composition and DOF too.
And the sharpness is great on the essential.
An other very well-kept work: image and a magnificent note. We see where leads the experience.
Thanks a lot!

Nice one Jaap colours very good and detail well seen.
the note is exceptionaly informative, apparently the Christian missonaries are responsable for making a lot of people avoid eating this type of protein as they were made to believe it was not food fit for "Civilised" humans, so now people avoid them even when a plauge of locusts passes by removing all the vegitation, leaving them starving when there are tons of food on the wing. I believe they taste like shrimp (Never tried one)
again nice one Jaap

John.

The result is great Jaap. And you give us a very interesting lesson of economics. Your note is very informative, as is Robert Brown comment. Nice colors, good DOF and details.

Superb photography as ever Jaap, crop and framing are perfect, colours are good, textures are good. DOF is pretty much spot on.
