Lorikeets and lories are small, brightly coloured, highly aboreal parrots. They are usually classified as Loriinae, the most clearly distinct of the several rather uncertain subfamilies within the Psittacidae. Some authorities regard the differences between the Loriinae and the other parrots as sufficient to justify promoting the group to full family status, in which case, following the biological naming conventions, they become the Loriidae, and are placed alongside the remaining true parrots (Psittacidae) and the cockatoos (Cacatuidae) within the biological order Psittaciformes. The Ultramarine Lorikeet is endangered. It is now one of the 50 rarest birds in the world.(Wiki)

An unusual color for a lorikeet, Annick.
Very sharp details and good POV.
I like the intense stare.
Beautiful colors in the BG that compliments the bird very well.
TFS. : )

Hi Annick,
Great details and sharpness. It's interesting that the lorikeet's colour blends with the background. In some cases I would not prefer it but I think it works well here to give a pleasant mood to the shoot. Overall a well seen and composed shot. TFS!

Cute green fellow Annick. I never realised that these birds came in many colours. It is a very good portrait of this beauty. Very sharp, eye contact is good too. Well shown, thank you,
Janice

Hello Annick !
Once again you show us a wonderful bird-portrait ! Excellent sharpness, details and composition, and a wonderful blurred BG which makes the bird stand out nicely. I also like the colors, color of the bird and of BG are almost the same, very beautiful green. Very well done !
Valerie.
