Owls have large forward-facing eyes and ears, a hawk-like beak, and usually a conspicuous circle of feathers around each eye called a facial disc. Although owls have binocular vision, their large eyes are fixed in their sockets, as with other birds, and they must turn their entire head to change views.

Owls are far-sighted, and are unable to clearly see anything within a few inches of their eyes. Their far vision, particularly in low light, is incredibly good, and they can turn their head 135 degrees in either direction; they can thus look behind their own shoulders. It is not correct, however, that they can turn the head so far as to face completely backwards.
Genus in progress...
Thanks to Thijs(critiques) this is IMO a Bubo africanus

A rather big crop and a higher ISO were generating some noise. Blurred the already blurred background a little more with the blurring tool to get rid of it.
Otherwise usual pp workflow...

What an intent look on this owl you have captured, Annick.
Part curiosity, part amusement! : P
He almost looks as though he were leaning forward,
and he seems to have a smile on him.
Fascinating portrait.
As usual, all technical elements are excellent.

Hello Annick,
I think someone is giving you the eye, beautiful close up with sharp focus and excellent exposure, great job Annick.

Hi Annick,

Een prachtige plaat! Heel mooie details!!

Hi Annick,
The 'eyes(ayes)' have it as they say at voting in the English Parliament voting results.
Short of a little depth of field to get the tufts sharp.
Good colours and definition of feathers.
Well done.
Keep taking the chances. Have a good holiday.

Hello Annick!
I was absent in Lodz last several days and because of that there was no chance to comment any photo on TN. Really tomorrow I am leaving again for one week but with hope that it will be possible (even if only from time to time) to visit TN.

This time I decided to write a few words about this photo because it presents owl, and owls are (next to Falcos) my favourite birds :)
Picture as always is very good composed and have very good details and sharpness. I also like the face-to-face POV and natural colouration.
TFS and have a nice Sunday!
