The (Sympetrum striolatum) is a kind of darters from the family of the Skimmer Dragonflies (Libellulidae). These are a family of the large spirit dragonflies (Anisoptera). It acts thereby around a medium sized darter with a wingspan of maximally 6.5 centimeters.
Characteristics The large Common Darter reaches wingspans of five to 6.5 centimeters. The head, the chest section (thorax) and the abdomen (Abdomen) of animals are with the male red, colored with the female rather brownish-yellow-red with black design. In addition the thorax carries two bright stripes, which makes a distinction possible to a very similar common darter (Sympetrum vulgatum). They moreover the head carries a black front design, which ends at the eyes, while it pulls itself with the common darters a piece down far on the eyes.

As the third distinguisher the males of the common darter possess one to the end clearly widened abdomen. The legs are black and possess oberseits a red to yellow colouring, which is missing with the likewise similar blood-red heath spirit level (Sympetrum sanguineum). Way of life The large heath spirit level is to be found in the months July until Octobers at standing waters of all kinds, among them also small waters and little dikes males sit frequently somewhat off waters.

The mating and the oviposition take place in the flight, whereby the animals to tandem position over the water or damp bank soil fly. The females strip their eggs by whipping movements of the abdomen at the water surface or the soil. After some minutes the male from the female and this separate put down without the male further eggs. Larva development The larvae slip partly already in the same year after approximately six weeks, a large part wintered however in the egg. They prefer the range on the waters reason or between aquatic plants. Their development takes one year, afterwards the adulten common darters appear.

Yes this is the darter I send before. I have cropp this one so that only nice details are seen. I hope you like the job.
