The Migrant Hawker is with its length of 63 mm one of the smaller species of hawker dragonflies. The species prefers still of slow-flowing water and can tolerate brackish sites. The flight period is from July to the end of October. They can be found in North Africa, southern and central Europe to the Baltic region.

This shot was a difficult one because the dragonfly was sitting on the shrub at least one meter above my head.

Ha Marie,

Mooi shot van deze paardenbijter
Prachtige kleuren
ik ken het probleem, ze gaan altijd zitten daar waar je niet of nauwelijks bij kan.

Hello marie,
Excellent size posting to enjoy the total closeness of the Migrant Hawker!
very sharp with natural colour and superb details
you had done very well in this shot

Hi Marie,
A lovely capture of this beautiful migrant hawker. Superb details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Good to see you back, Marie.
Migrant Hawker is a very good looking dragonfly and you have shot it well despite the higher location of the subject.
The leafy BG does not affect the sharpness and colours of the subject adversely.
Thanks and regards.

Hello Mariki, a very nice view and good composition. Nice colors and good lighting. The natural sorroundings and your note is very interesting. Ganesh

Hi Marie,
A perfect close-up capture of a male Migrant Hawker in a fine composition and wonderful DOF.
TFS and Cheers,
Bayram

Hi Marie

A fine shot of this hawker, interesting POV with great DOF and really good sharpness.

Chris

Hi Marie,
Very nice macro work of this Migrant Hawker with good POV and composition, sharp details and bright natural colours. The BG is a bit messy and the DOF is quite deep but with the good contrast of colours the subject is very distinctive.

Bonito documento de esta bella libélula Marie. Buen enfoque y naturalidad en los colores, aunque creo que el fondo no es el más apropiado para el contraste, aunque eso a veces no se puede elegir :-)

Hello Marie,
You did very well capturing this Hawker settled high above your head! They do 'hang' in the most awkward places! In spite of the busy background you show all details and the colours very clearly. Well composed too!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Marie,

In spite of the dragonfly being in a disadvantageous position, you did a fine job capturing him! Everything about the dragonfly is very clear. Nice shot!

John
