Sericomyia silentis, male

Dutch name: Gele veenzweeflieg
French name: Séricomyie silencieuse

Throughout much of Europe

With a body length generally of about 16mm, it is one of the largest hoverflies.

It hovers, but it also has a rather 'busy' manner as it moves from flower to flower, like a bee or wasp.

The fly was first in the shadow in the ivy blossom, it flied to a sunny area in the grass, but I had no time to remove the flash. Time to take this shot and it flied away. That was the first time I could see this syrphid fly and I am not sure to see it again, that is why I have decided to upload it.

Bonjour Marie, macro très nette, excellents détails et une exposition sans faute, bravo encore!

Hello Marie Christine,
a big hoverfly I've never seen before. Thanks for presenting this very special fly. You did a good job too. I wonder why you used a flash in this case, it looks like you had sun light.
Best regards

Bonjour Marie-Christine,
Meilleures salutations

Realismo en el color y buena pose. Justa de profundidad. Un bonito trabajo.
