Perigrapha munda, syn. Orthosia munda, caterpillar

Dutch name: Dubbelstipvoorjaarsuil
French name: Proprette

The Twin-spotted Quaker is a species of moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found in Europe. The wingspan is 28-44mm. The moth flies from March to May depending on the location.

The larvae feed on Oak, Willow, Populus tremula, Fraxinux excelsior, Acer campestre, Humulus lupulus and Honeysuckle.

(source wikipedia)

The eggs are being laid in groups in April on the host plant. They hatch within ten days. The caterpillars feed at night. When small they hide in the foliage during the day. Bigger larvae hide in crevices in the bark of foodplant (see WS). In July the caterpillars are full grown. They drop to the ground, spin a cocoon and pupate inside. The moth overwinters as pupa.

Nice macro of the caterpillar of P. mundi, moth that I know well from the days when ran a moth trap.
But I have never seen the caterpillar, here caught from a fine POV with good sharpness. Great that you could correctly ID it!
