Dear friends, my last picture was not OK for TE, I've these heron removed, sorry for the people that already brought a visit.
I am very glad that a lot people are honest this can alone give a better picture in future.

I want placing a sea gull, taken on a cold afternoon to Cadzand in Zeeland the Netherlands.

I hope that this image is better and pleasant for look at.

I used a monopod.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Most gulls, particularly Larus species, are ground nesting carnivores, which will take live food or scavenge opportunistically. Live food often includes crabs and small fish. Apart from the kittiwakes, gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea.[citation needed] The large species take up to four years to attain full adult plumage, but two years is typical for small gulls. Large White-Headed Gulls are typically long-lived birds, with a maximum age of 49 years recorded for the Herring Gull.

Gulls nest in large, densely packed noisy colonies. They lay two to three speckled eggs in nests composed of vegetation. The young are precocial, being born with dark mottled down, and mobile upon hatching.

Hi John,
it is nice to see some exiting work from you again. Lovely capture of this gorgeous gull. The detail is very good the dept of field great. For me that image was a bit oversharpened and in the workshop I tried to do some minor corrections to fix the slight cyan cast around. But Good image John! I like it! Have a nice day John!

Hello John,
Voor mij had je gelijk om de vorige foto te verwijderen. Deze is een stuk beter. Goede detaillering en natuurlijke kleuren. Prima diepte in de foto.

Hi John,

The close-up point of view is showing the details and colors of the seagull. It is clear and sharp. It is well framed. The quality of the light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi John,
This very nice capture.I think this is black-backed gull (Larus fuscus) or great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) which are very rare in our country.Details and 3D effect are excellent.
Thanks for posting..

Bonjour John!

Très joli travail de post-processing! Les couleurs sont plus naturelles! Bravo!

Heel scherpe foto van deze meeuw; ik zie dat je een goeie tele hebt gebruikt. Ze zijn niet altijd de meest geliefde gasten aan de kust, maar hier op foto komt ie mooi voor de dag.

Dear John

I like the subject very well and the close-up is well done as far as the composition and the depth of view are concerned. The sharpness reveals rich details. On the other hand, there's a serious problem with the colour management. The whole picture is too bluish, the white feathers do not appear natural white. I don't know if its a problem with the white balance setting or a postprocessing problem. I have made a WS to show what I mean.

Kind regards

Hello John,
A fine capture of a Greater Black-backed Gull taken in a good pose from a POV that shows its features with excellent sharpness and colours, though maybe the framing is a little too close to the subject.
Thanks and have a nice Sunday evening,

49 years..had no idea some of these gulls could live that long John..
Comp's a bit tight?
Good work!

hello John

great close-up shot of this sea gull,
shot with fine POV at its level,
excellent focus sharpness and details, TFS

Hello John! Amazing seagull, wonderful scene and scenery. Good cut. Perfect exposure. Ideal sharpness. Good quality, high fidelity. Well done!

Hi John,
majestic pose, perfectly well framed, presented with rich details, showing marvellously subtle shades of gray. A very noble portrat of the Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus) - hope that identification is correct. Thank you!
With best regards,

Hi John,
Very nice photo, everything's superb - but I more or less agree with Markus and George about the out-of-tune white balance. It doesn't mean I don't like the pic, I do indeed, because the pose of the gull and the whole composition is brilliant. Tfs.
Friendly regards, László
