In the last couple of days, I've seen a lot a beautiful sunsets. I think I got inspired and wanted to join the club. Actually, it had more to do with a change in the weather. In the last couple of days we only had grey skies and lots of rain. Just around diner time, the weather changed and the sky became clear. So a few hours later I went for a short drive to this field close to work. I made this photo with my new lens. My intention was to photograph the silhouette of the tree line against the clear and slightly colored sky. A pitty that the sky was too clear....you see, humans always complain about the weather and are never happy with what they have. Anway, I am prety happy with the result.

Great colors. Normally a clear sky wouldn't be enough to make a great picture, but you pulled it off with this one. I really like the color transitions. I also like the way you framed it with a vertical layout versus a horizontal layout. The colors naturally draw your eyes down to the trees at the bottom of the picture. TFS!

Hi Neik,
Your Silhouette is just beautiful, clear sky and all. Sometimes photos can be very busy, but this one is very calming. I love the colours. AAA+++ Janice

Hi Niek,

Boy, not a speck of noise in that shot. I guess Canon lives up to that claim, though I guess your ISO wasn't that high. It is a beautiful clear sky with nicely gradated colors. It is an interesting concept and well executed.

Evelynn : )

Hello friend,
Visiting minimalistic corner of the world, right? Well... let me tell you, your visit paid off!
Vast blue sky... Silhouetted trees against the faded sunset...
Well done!

Hi Niek
I want to latch on to what Evelynn has commented. No noise - even at ISO 200 this photo is as clean as can be. Since you do not mention anything about noise reduction in your "PP talk" I have to assume that this is then as it came of the sensor - no noise. Great stuff.
You do mention one thing that intrigued me though, as I cannot understand what possibly you could have cloned in this shot. Just curious.
It is a great sunset shot with its own kind of appeal. As you allude to it in your notes, you probably pulled off a sunset shot by curtailing a lot of 'sunset rules' or desirable outcomes. No clouds normally do make a sunset look 'dull', but yours are definitively not dull. Maybe it lacks the normal bright orange, red, blue, purple, or pink colours one would find with a sunset, but it has its own charm and tranquillity about it that really gives it a lot of visual stimulus.
Well done my friend and TFS.
PS. I had to smile at your thoughts about humans always complaining about the weather. It almost sounds like you know about farmers. When it’s dry, they complain that they need rain, and when it rains, they complain it is too wet.

Wow, wonderful sky, even without clouds ! All these different nuaces of blue are very beautiful, and I love the black shape of the trees against this sky. Great note too, I agree, humans are always complaining... Never satisfied with what they have :-)

Great shot Niek! I agree with you that humans complain about the weather too much. I also think that sometimes a lot of us don't stop to appreciate a sunset unless we see vivid reds or pinks. Sometimes my favorite sunset is actually AFTER those colors have passed, and you're left with a dark blue/black sky to the east, and a bluish/green sky in the west. It's really amazing how many colors the sky is able to produce. What I like about this picture is just that -- the top of the picture shows the sky as a very deep blue... if you would've taken the picture ten minutes later there probably would've been stars visible there. And at the bottom of the picture, we have a nice area of reds and oranges that really give a lot of contrast to the trees in front of them. Great shot!

Hi Niek,
I think I have to hold my hand up as an 'alternative' :-) I love the weather, I love the Summer and the continual warmth, I love the Winter (beautiful even in England), Spring, Autumn and I love the rain.

A lovely shot you have here, an interesting concept to photograph a clear sky but with the soft colours and light you've captured it perfectly. Perfect detail in the silhouetted trees, nice work.

The composition and soft colours from the lighting in the sky make a very nice, clear and pleasant pic. TFS,

Hello Niek!

I love what you have done here! The fading of the colors in the sky works very well adn silouetts are truly amazing against the clear sky! Love it
