Winter Storm

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Sorry for posting winter pictures in august, but I live in northern Norway and I have to prepare myself for the winter soon coming. Today it is a sizzling 13 degrees centigrade here, so there is my excuse.
This picture was taken in january. It is picturing the same mountains as seen in "Autumn Waves I & II". This week in january, northern Norway was so lucky to be host to a winter storm called "Narve". Not as strong as the US hurricanes, this was only a storm - albeit a strong one! And when it is aready minus 25 degrees centigrade, such a storm is chilling!
I shot this picture early in the morning, before the sun was up (actually the sun dont come up in january, but it will create a sensation of light around lunch time..). I thought the image of the snow blowing off the mountains in the dark morning showed just hat a storm is felt like in january up here above the arctic circle. It is beautifull, but still.... best viewed from a warm living room!
Post processing:
I had a lot of difficulty with noise, because of the low light. I cropped the image to a panoramic version, converted to B&W, adjusted HUE and satuaration, and solved the noise problem by blurring the sky.
I dont know just yet if I think this was the best way to present the picture, but I think it is kind of nice anyway :) |
