Hi!
During the winter here in the north, the light is very special. The period between 11am and 14pm is when the light is usable for photography (and generally to do anything outside the house). I have decided to run a theme on the sunset up here, which, to me, is when the light is at its most beautiful. Im calling the serie "Northern Sunset", and I hope you will like it. This is the first picture and shows the magnificent Blåtind (Blue Peak). You can see here the pastel and bleached colours that appear in the winter months. The sky is pink, but the shadows are all blue. That is why this time of day is called the "blue hours". This picture is taken at 13am just after the sun has started its decsent. At midday the sun shines just a little further down on the mountain, but not quite all the way down to the valley.

Photo data:

Aperture: f/5.6
ISO setting: 200
Focal lenght: 70mm
Filters used: UV-filter
Support: Tripod
Time of day: 12:55pm
File format: RAW

Superbe endroit.
Félicitations et merci!

Well, at least you don't have to get up really early or stay up very late to photograph the wonderful dawn and evening light! This is really lovely. I remember living in Alaska, watching the sunlight reach a little further down the mountain every day. Finally one day it came in the window! It was so exciting. I love your photo.

Hi Torbjorn,

Good capture of light, just beautiful colors and like the shadow of the right mountain on the left one. Good idea for the panoramic. Keep them coming! TFS.

Hi Torbjorn

This is very beautiful.
I raelly apreciate the timing here, capturing the sunlight on those peaks and nothing else.
The composition is indeed simply stunning and fantastic...very simple but works terrific.
I'm also quite impressed with the gorgeous colors of the sky and the way they look agains the darker FG.
Very good work!

Bravo and TFS
