This huge reservoir of fine sand is left by the river Gaula up through thousands of years, as the land slowly rises from the sea!

Today the river runs about 20 m below where I stand to capture this scenery.

Hi Pablo

Another superb scene from and and another great lesson on history and evolution!
You actually made me curious...do you have any photos of the river? :)
Anyway, the landscape here is lovely and presented with charming colors and great details throughout the entire frame.
Very good composition and exposure, too.

Bravo and TFS

The huge mound of sand is devoid of vegetation, naturally, but the dense forest on either side of it encases it into a lovely frame, Pablo.
Do I see indications of the sand being utilized for other purposes in the shape of a road leading to it and the hint of a truck?
Anyway, that does not affect the appeal of this lovely landscape.

It is always interesting to "read" geologic history in the landscape. This is a nice sharp image with good natural color and depth of focus.

Hello Pablo,
These kind of ridges of sand are quite common down here in the south of Sweden, but they're often ruined by quarry activities. Excellent DOF, great sharpness and bautiful colours.
TFS, Ulla

This is very interesting to see how earth transforms itself with time. It is always a work in progress :) As usual, details, POV, DOF, exposure and composition are very good. This is a beautiful scenery. Thanks,

Salut Pablo

Hi Pablo. Goos to see some geoscience coming into your photography today. It is amazing how Norway is popping up slowly after the mass of ice of eon ago has melted. Good clarity and note. TFS. Murray.

Hello Pablo
What a beautiful landscape with so many trees! I love the color of the different greens!
Excellent sharpness and exposure and a great composition.
Is that a quarry? And, what is the blue thing in the middle of the first trees? I'm just curious ;)
My compliments for this great shot.
Best wishes

Hi, Pablo.
Nice landscape. Very good exposure and composition.

Hi Pablo,
That is really impressive, to have such a huge difference between the past flow of the river and the current.
It does look like humans are using the sand deposit for construction. WHich is ofcourse obvious, but is unfortunately destroying nature by speeding up erosion.

Olá Pablo!

Lindíssima foto desta paisagem de cores contrastantes. Me agrada muito a composição, o céu de um azul lindo e sem nuvens ajuda realçando as várias tonalidades do verde. Parabéns.

It's a nice landscape - this time a closer one, on the river Gaula. The diagonal is a winner compo, of course. The blue sky is a nice detail.
I wish you a nice weekend!

Hi Pablo,
A beautifully composed landscape scene. Great contrast between the bare sand, green trees, and blue skies. Color saturation and detail look excellent. Nice shot!

thats quite interesting...and showing the fact that sea and riverway levels have dropped so much.

Hello pablo !
Your landscapes are always outstanding ! A simple and common landscape turnis into something very special on your picture. I love the composition here, and the beautfiul colors, and also your low POV, by the river. These hills covered with forests must be a fantastic place, full ofbeautiful things to take pictures of ! :-) Wish I could visit your coutry some day...

Time to go back and fill in some of the ones I missed!
Fascinating to see this river of sand -- we have similar ones in northern Ontario and Quebec -- they're often a place for gold :)
Great colours and details

Weird, geogology is beyond our imagination. there are crystals and sea shell fossils all over Tibet and on Mt. Everest!

Hi Pablo,

A nice image of the sand dune and of the forest, the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.
