It is a sure sign of spring when the ice on the river is breaking up!

Here we can see how the broken ice is packing up in a narrow stretch in the river. In years with more ice this can cause problems and flooding, but this winter we hardly had ice at all. We only had a couple of days with -15C so the ice this year is very thin.

A close-up on the breaking ice is uploaded as workshop.

In a couple of months the salmon will enter the river...

Hi Pablo.
Simple enough subject but how well you have presented it. Skill to see beauty in common things or phenomenon is sigh of creative and sensitive person. I like framing and selected for capturing scene, expressive and impressive lighting, excellent details and combination of lights and shadow. Your note is shot but very nice too. Thank you so much. My best wishes.

Hi Pablo

Now this is definitely a clear sign of spring!
Very nice photos, my friend!...to bad we don't have any audio next to them to hear them crack :)
I like both of your photos and the very good exposure and contrasts in them.
The perspective here is nice and the composition is lovely, with the arch forming towards the right part.
Hope to see more "spring" shots from you ;)

Cheers and TFS

Hi Pablo, as long as its not flooding you have to be happy with a scene like this one. Good lighting on this one has allowed you to capture great textures from this breakup.

Thanks, John

Hi Pablo. I like to see this scene especially from a distance. It seems spring is on the way in Norway now.

Hi Pablo

Bonjour,

Pablo,
FASCINATING!!!
You have an unusual talent not only to photograph nature
but to observe it and share it beautifully with your TN
world.
The shot of the FULL view, the PANORAMA, is a joy to
observe.
The vegetation in the B/G gives it extra DRAMA.
Very well done, well composed, clear & sharp.
Yes, I like it very much.
Greetings from Canada, Mario.

Hi Pablo,

That's something new to me and it's a fascinating view of the ice breaking.
You're capture is beautiful, and I like the details the ice is showing. A sign of spring indeed :-)
Great shot!

Greetings, Nel

I remember from my Alaska days how significant an occasion break-up can be. People would place bets on the day and hour for a particular river. This is a really interesting shot. It has been an unusual winter for sure.

TFS
Evelynn : )

Hi Pablo,
I've only seen this a few times, but then it was created by an ice breaker to keep the canal open for the boats. For me this looks like thick ice, but I am sure that you are used to much thicker ice.

The composition is great, nice and simple with a wonderful curve from where the water is visable.

TFS,
Niek

Olá Pablo

Uma imagem interessante e cores atraentes.
Bonita composição, um trabalho fantástico!

Abraços,

Hello Pablo,
This is a nice subject that you capture very well. This is something similar to what I can see near home too on the Richelieu's river :) Spring is coming! As usual, details, exposure, POV and composition are very good. I also like those tones of colors. Thanks,
Claudine

Hello pablo !
For you winter seems to be over, but in France, after some very warm weeks, we have snow again ! Weather is completely crazy. Anyway, it is a great picture, full of hope. You have managed to capture a great moment. Excellent details, colors, exposure and composition, as usual from you. Very well done !
valerie.

Hi Pablo,
You have selected the details for this picture with discerning artistic eye. The mass of broken ice, the triangle of clear water wedged into it, the bare bushes on the banks of the river and the dark forest beyond it. The three zones merge into a cohesive and lovely composition.
Thanks, and sorry for my late response to this image.

Hello Pablo,
That's something we almost nerver see on our latitudes. You have made a good composition, taking a part of the already water in your picture. Good contrast also with the trees in the back.

Hi Pablo,

what I am dreaming that's right to be on the river while the ice is breaking. due to the busy office life I lost so many springs for this wonderful moment. So I consider you are a lucky man, who captured a right moment!

Igor
