Vågsøy is about 10 km west of Måløy on the west coast of Norway (about twothirds of the way from Bergen towards Alesund).
There you will find Kannesteinen, sometimes called "the Pod Rock".
This rock has been formed by the endless wave motion of the sea. For thousands of years the sea has been beating against this rock and shaping it into a goblet or a mushroom, the latter of which in the local parlance were called "kannes."

Ricardo

An interesting image Ruud with great aesthetic sense.
I like a lot the captured point of view that offers a very good effect of depth.
Excellent focus and DOF, besides a correct illumination and speed that it allows the detail of the water frozen in the air.
A beautiful composition... thank you for sharing.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hello Ruud,
This is a very interesting capture of this unique rock. We really see the work done by nature and this is most interesting; a real work of art. I like this lightning which is very natural, details, POV, DOF and composition. Well seen and well done. Thanks,
Claudine

Prachtig! Goede plaat Ruud.

Groet,
Pieter

Hello Ruud,
I guess this one took a million years to create!
Interesting composition with an amazing sense of depth, great details captured in spite of a cloudy day...
A well presented scenery, only thing I miss is an opportunity for scaling...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Rood.
No comments, it has gone directly into my favorites.
Greetings.

Hoi Ruud,
Mooie opname, met perfect detail and belichting.
Groeten,
Niek

Hi Ruud,
What an amazing shape this rock has. It's like a sculpture. Very harmonious grey-tonality for the whole picture.

Hello Ruud,
Great presentation of this natural sculpture.
I think you choose a very good POV, and the composition is very well balanced.
Congratulations and regards,
JM

First of all, thanks for looking at my recent picture and leaving your kind comments, Ruud.
A cursory glance at your profile and pictures, especially of Norway, reveals a goldmine of your extremely daring and dramatic landscapes. Needless to say, I would love to explore and enjoy all of them at my leisure!
This is a fantastic picture of a rock sculpture shaped by the hands of Nature. This monolithic, massive work of nature's art can put any modernistic, avant garde sculptor to shame in my reckoning.
However, the credit goes to you for recording this image in such a way that its impact on the viewer does not lose an iota of its grandness.
Many many thanks for showing this amazing picture of an amazing natural phenomenon.
Regards,
Ram

Hi Ruud,

Excellent shot, nicely composed.

Hello Ruud,
eye catching image of monumental composition, enormous depth and dramatical atmosphere. The splashes of water stand in lively contrast to the eternity of rocks.
By the way, "Bergwerk" sounds good for a copyright name, and I like the intro picture with the photographer disappearing behind poppy blossoms on a lush meadow of early summer.
All the best to you, and Merry Christmas!
Peter

Groet reina

What an interesting formation this is Ruud. I've seen a lot of sea sculpted rocks but never one like that. It's a nice wide angle shot with great sharpness.

Hola Ruud,
Buen trabajo
Hernán

Hello Ruud!
