[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the borders of the river Biebrza in northeastern Poland, there's many amphibians. Many species are present, a.o. Tree frog, (Common) spadefoot, Red bellied toad and this Green toad (Bufo viridis). I found this subadult in the basement of the little farmhouse I rented with the family. Since it would never have the possibility to get out on it's own I released it and quickly took some photos.

Hello Jacob,
Ha, now I understand what your nickname means.
A nice profile of these toad.
Good low POV but possibly a little light in places. Try lowering the blue a little to get rid of those greyish patches of light.

lovely picture with a Bofo by Bufo

Hi Jacob

Very beautiful low angled shot of this nice Bufo viridis.
You did great to ge so low, because the BG and perspective it gave you are amazing!
The details are also terrific and one can easily see that these toads hide in the ground...it's still a bit dirty :))
The DOF is great and actually makes the eye stand out excellently and the composition is lovely.
Oh...almost fergot...splendid fill-in effect.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Jacob,
Very shallow DoF, but superbly focused, resulting a sharp image of green toad, with a very neat BG. Lovely colors. Well composed.
Excellent shot.

Hi Jacob

First, well done for liberating the toad.

The focus and colours of the eye are really great - it jumps out from the rest of the shot.

The POV is really well done - all the toad, but off centre. The focus is really good also, concentreing on the main part of the toad.

Hi Jacob
Great POV with good compo, DOF a bit shallow despite f/11, but eye perfectly sharp

Love the DOF, details and soft color tones.
Beautiful image.
Excellent work Jacob. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards, Harry

bonjour Jacob,
très belle image d'un animal qui le l'est pas nécessairement. Le POV rasant et le BG vert lui donne une douceur agréable.

Hello Jacob,
A great shot showing a side view of this beautiful toad. When taking such a close shot it is oftern hard to decide on the right focal point. This shot shows a good decision, making sure that the head and body are in focus.
You were lucky to find the Green Toad. If I found it I would do the same as you did. Capture and release is pretty harmless on such occasions.
One day I hope to photograph it. It is rare in Sweden.
Thanks for sharing this,
Best wishes, Ivan

Hello Jacob,
It's always interesting to see rare species appear here. Your close capture of this Green Toad is very fine, a bit blurred around the edges but focus is on the eye and I really like it this way. Interesting details and beautiful pattern and colours.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hallo Jacob,
Heel mooie compositie; zijdelings genomen...

nice pic, great light, TFS Ori

good shot bufo!!

Very nice shot of this Bufo bufo.
The composition, focus and colours are great.
Well done!

Dear Jacob!
I was absent for several days on TN but now I can see that your trip to Poland was ok :)
Congratulation because of very nice picture of Bufo viridis! Nice colours, DOF and POV. It is also nice to read that you show in Biebrza region some other species of Amphibia :)
TFS and have a nice weekend!

A real corker Jacob
We helped to put a toad tunnel under the road for amhibians a few years ago. They are such endearing creatures. You have some great photos.
