The Common chicory (Cichorium intybus) is an erect, somewhat woody, perennial herbaceous plant with bright blue flowers. Various varieties are cultivated for salad leaves, chicons (blanched buds), or for roots (var. sativum), which are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and additive. It is also grown as a forage crop for livestock. It lives as a wild plant on roadsides in its native Europe, and in North America and Australia, where it has become naturalized.
PL – cykoria podróżnik to roślina z rodziny astrowatych. Rodzimy obszar jej występowania to znaczna część Europy, Azji, Algieria i Tunezja w Afryce Północnej. Bardzo pospolita ro-ślina na całym obszarze Polski.

good presentation of flower which is beautiful. tfs. nice macro.

Hello Olgierd,
Very beautiful and informative. Chicory is commercially produced as a coffee substitute or additive near here but this is the first time that I see the flower. Very well presented in excellent quality.

Nice artisitic composition, maybe a bit brightening?
