Hello my Friends!
Really the most "fresh" picture, taken just few days ago during my short holiday in Inowlodz, Spala Landscape Park, C Poland (in Poland we had 9 days of free time! ;>).

This time I'd like to introduce to you another beetle species, a longhorned beetle - Rhagium mordax De Geer (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lepturinae).

The title of this photo is because of a few reasons:
1. this species is well known as pest in forestry

and because of that

2. the Polish name of this genus is "rębacz", what means "hewer",

3. it has long antennae (even if much shorter than in most other Cerambycidae species) :>

Really this is one of the most common species of this genus in Central Europe, and also one of the most abundant Cerambycidae species in Poland, easy to find in every type of forests where it lives in Quercus, Fagus, Carpinus, Betula, and Tilia tree species.
Here on the photo there is a female.
The size of this species is 13-22 mm, males are usually smaller than females.

R. mordax is one of only 4 species of this genus known both from Poland and Europe. There are also Rhagium inquisitor (on TN presented by Peter batu), R.bifasciatum (showed by Thijs Pentaxfriend), and R. sycophanta.

R. mordax as an Eurosiberian species is wide distributed in almost all European countries to Syberia.
Adults can be observed from IV to VIII, often - like this specimen, on the trunks of dead trees.

As you can note, it is not rare, not protected, and even very common, but I still hope that you will like this forest creature :>

Hi Radomir ,
great details and well coposed.
background and sharpness are excellent too.
well captured
Thanks for sharing
best wishes

The best Rhagium picture I have seen yet! Perfect focus and good lighting, the only very slight regret being hat the foreground could have been a shade better lighted. Thanks for sharing.

Remarquable netteté pour un insecte original. Note très utile.

Saludos
José Ramón

Hello Radomir,
Excellent sharp image with fine composition, lighting, detail and BG showing perhaps one one the more common Rhagium species in N. Europe. In Swedish it is called Lövträdlöpare, which means 'deciduous tree-runner'.
Great macro!
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

I have seen this beetle for the first time, so it is of great interest to me even if it is common in your country, Radomir.
A well captured shot with very fine details and colours.

fantastique image, ce qui est surprenant c'est la teinte bleutée et la lumière bien diffuse. Très grande qualité.

Hi Radek

Very nice to see a new picture from you! (and also some sun in the back there...nice to see you had some good weather in your holiday, too) :)
This is a splendid shot, even if the subject is quite common.
The details and textures on this longhorn beetle are exceptional and very sharp...as usual, i love that!
The BG is also very lovely here - nicely blurred and contrasting with the subject.
Very nice side POV and very good exposure, as well.

Bravo and TFS

Dear Radomir,
no problem, I really like your forest creature! You master the light again very well, some light is coming from above or even against the photographer, giving the nice effect. You are a worthy Ambassador of the Cerambycid tribe, Radomir.

Hi Radomir.
I like your terrific shot so much. Great scene and outstanding reproduction of the bug. May be BG is too light but on the other hand it ubderlines the features and crisp sharpness of the insect. Perfect done and TFS.
