Another try with my new cam. Great Woodpecker again hanging on some kind of meat in birds' feeder.

Latin name
Dendrocopos major

Wrynecks and woodpeckers (Picidae)

About blackbird-sized and striking black-and-white. It has a very distinctive bouncing flight and spends most of its time clinging to tree trunks and branches, often trying to hide on the side away from the observer. Its presence is often announced by its loud call or by its distinctive spring 'drumming' display. The male has a distinctive red patch on the back of the head and young birds have a red crown.

Where to see them
Woodlands, especially with mature broad-leaved trees, although mature conifers will support them. Also in parks and large gardens. Will come to peanut feeders and birdtables. Not found in Ireland or the far N and S of Scotland. Most common in England and Wales.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Insects, seeds and nuts.

Info taken from The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Hello Grzegorz,
This one is much sharper than the previous one of the same species in a similar situation. This means that you either had better light or you put up the ISO.
Whatever, I have the smae camera and I am very pleased with mine and I am sure you will be pleased with yours, if you aren't already!
Thanks and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Grzegorz

Stunning image. It is pin sharp and the DOF is excellent. I love that pose! You have also caught some beautiful details in the feathers

I love woodpeckers. They are pretty and nice. It is good to look at them on photos because it's difficult to see them in the forrest,
