Another shot of Queen of Spain Fritillary on Echinacea. Seems that butterflies on this flower are completely mad ;-)

European/world range:
Throughout continental Europe as far north as southern Scandinavia, with migrants occurring almost to the Arctic Circle. Resident in North Africa and eastwards through Turkey and the Middle East into Asia. Declining in north-west Europe, but stable or expanding in other European countries.

Foodplants:
Species in the genus Viola (violets and pansies) are used in continental Europe. Northern populations rely mainly on Wild Pansy (Viola tricolor) and Field Pansy (V. arvensis) and it is assumed that the butterfly is restricted to these two species in Britain.

Habitat:
The butterfly is found in a diverse range of habitats in continental Europe, but in the north of its range is associated predominantly with dry, open habitats such as limestone pavement, heathland, and dunes.

Rare migrant:
The beautiful Queen of Spain Fritillary is an uncommon visitor to Britain and Ireland, despite having a migratory habit and the presence of permanent colonies just across the English Channel.

In flight, it may be confused with the Dark Green Fritillary, but it is smaller, its wings have a more angular shape, and the large silver patches on the undersides of the hindwings are unmistakable.

Sightings have increased in recent years and it is possible that a temporary breeding colony became established in Suffolk.

HI Greg! What a welcoming shot for me. I love these Echinacea flowers and your Butterfly is nice and sharp.
I'm a little jet-lagged (not really) but very tired, so all I can say to you is "Bula!" (Hello in Fijian)...

Hello Greg!
Wonderful shot.POV,colors and composition are perfect. Thanks for sharing.

Jak zwykle cudownie kolorowy jest ten motylek.
Uwielbiam tego typu zdjecia - w kompozycji z kwiatem - mają mnóstwo uroku.

Hello Greg, Very nice capture showing both the beauty of the echinacea and this fritillary equally well. The central comp. works well here IMO. Very good light, colors and details with an excellent POV. Great work!

Once again I am impressed with the quality of shot your new canera produces. As I said to Luc (who uses the same camera), it is time for me to upgrade and the S2-IS is the one I have chosen, a couple more weeks and I'll have enough money in th epiggy bank.
Great shot, perfect sharpness, wonderful colours and contrast.
Thansk for helping me choose my next camera!

Hello Red,
Those are gorgeous colours. Very good details in all over the image. Good dof and PoV, but still like to imagine the scene only with the butterfly and the spiny top of the flower.
Anyway a very good work with high tecnical fascilities.
Very well done.

Hi Greg,

Again a very nice capture, The colourcombination is not realy good matching but that is to blame the butterfly.

Good work,
