Small, forest species. The maximum wingspan is up to 36 mm. The butterflies usually flies just over the ground. The males usually are darker than females. You can find this species in June inside the forests or near the forest roads. This species is complete absent on British Islands but quite common in Europe.

The caterpilars feeds on different grasses like Brachypodium or Poa. The young caterpilars overwinters.

I like this very much, a very attractive little butterfly that has not yet arrived in Sweden but I believe it's present in Finland.
Excellent composition showing the details of this furry little creature against a pleasant background.
