[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last few weeks were for sure very extraordinary.
It seems that Mother Nature went crazy.
Unfortunately in some parts of the world her insanity changed into real rage and the results we all know - snow in United Arab Emirates for the first time ever, great frost in warm parts of the Earth, huge floods, very strong stormwinds and the earthquake that brought killer wave...
I didn't want to write about it because many of this have sad consequences, but after all we live here and this is natural though sometimes very strange to us.

For part of the World where I live Nature was rather gentle. She decided to bring here Spring in the middle of the Winter. We had sunny weather with quite high temperatures so it was in fact nice gift. I think many TN members was very glad about it and so was I. Suddenly many opportunities for photos appeared - I can say that they simply came out from holes, crevices and other warm winter refuges. Many kinds of small animals felt it was time to woke up.

And so did this Seven-spotted Ladybird. Probably it was sleeping in this "hairy moss".
The beetle looked like after bad night - it had small problems with moving without falling from almost everything it climbed. After many efforts it probably realized that it would be better to get back to bed so it hid among this curly moss leaves and didn't appear anymore.
I'm sure you know Ladybirds well, some of them were guests on TN, so I won't write many about this fellows, but of course I will write some ;-)

This cute beetles are probably one of the most beloved insects (if something like "beloved insects" exists ;-)
In the past people believed that they are the messengers of the Virgin Mary and so the Ladybirds got their name and become very special animals. Farmers wouldn't dare to kill any of them - it could bring misfortune. This custom survived and even if we're not farmers it is better not to hurt Ladybird - just in case ;-)
In my country (as in many others) Ladybirds are believed to be lucky, especially those with magic seven on their back.
When we were children we "used" this beetles to foretell weather. We have a kind of rhyme which had to be said when Ladybird landed on you and then it fly away in some direction. I don't really remember what was it all about, but I do remember that we thought about it very serious and we believed its true. And the other thing I remember is that my grandma always said that we shouldn't kill Ladybirds and Spiders, cause it brings bad luck.
I know that in some countries Ladybirds are also fortune-tellers and they can, for example foretell if you got married soon or when your live path leads.

I hope that seeing Seven-spotted Ladybird in January is a sign of luck or at least sign of interesting New Year ;-)

PS. I saw quite much sad winter photos here, but as you see winter don't have to be B&W or grey ;-)

Well done Monika. There is a big improvement with this shot. good work

I think Willie´s clues on using the videocam is giving good results, but I agree with Miles that you need a photo cam urgently!
I have a very similar one but of course with a mushrooms inestead of the insect, I will post as soon as I ident the fungus.

Excellent note as always. Great composition with red and green colours. Nice frame. When I read your note I remember that when I was young we also used this insects to foretell weather. But I don't remember what we were chanting in this occasion ;-)

Not bed, it has that sense of wavy movement like the underwater photography. Very good colors and composition

Prety good quality for a camcorder, I don't have any problem viewing such shots here on TN, its all about sharing nature photography not just image perfection.

Hi Monika, I can't believe I have missed so much of your previous work. You have an excellent "eye" for the composition. All your compo's are striking. You are however let down by the sharpness of the camera. I would love to see you work a stil camera. Fantastic. I keep an eye out for you in the future, sorry I missed out so far.

Beautiful and soft. Nice composition. I am always no indifferent for red-green combinations! How can i see you use a videocamera to take your shots?! You have a really good point of view and it's sad you don't use a digital camera! If you need an friendly help or advice on this matter, i can always help you! Tell me the reasonable price limit and i give you some camera models!
