Fêmea de zimão (Gonepteryx rhamni).
Esta borboleta sobrevive ao Inverno no estado adulto e é uma das primeiras borboletas a surgir na Primavera. Antes de hibernarem e de reaparecerem em Fevereiro ou Março, voam de Junho a Julho em charnecas e ao longo de sebes naturais e de limites de florestas.


É uma espécie não ameaçada, mas é protegida na Irlanda do Norte. Quando estão poisadas as asas permanecem sempre juntas. Os machos distinguem-se facilmente pelas asas anteriores amarelas. As fêmeas são branco-esverdeadas e posso vos garantir que se confundem muitíssimo com as folhas das árvores. Ora aí está uma óptima camuflagem natural. Reparem que até tem "defeitos" nas asas para parecer uma folha seca. Já tinha ouvido falar desta borboleta, mas nunca a tinha visto: fantástica!

Hi there Marta, welcome tp TN, and what an interesting butterfly you have posted. It has such an excellent natural camouflage it must be so hard to find. And I think it would be strange to see in flight. Very well done, thank you. And very good notes too.

Welcome to TN!! Interesting first entry, I like the detailed main subject with a good DOF, nice contrast among colors, saludes, Iris

I still find it difficult to find a butterfly there. In a same green coloured tree, you'll never find this fellow.
