[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the summer, the island of Madeira is completely covered in Agapanthus. This beautiful species is to be found alongside most of the roads, near the little streams of water, so it colours up every ride you take. I took this picture on a birdwatching tour, so the butterfly was a nice extra. However, I do not really know what kind it is. Can anyone tell me? Later on I'll post some of the pictures of the birds that I saw that day.

Hello Josien,
such a lovely flower seen in good natural colour. I like to note the sharpnss of the butterfly hanging onto the flower.
Nice composition with smooth blurry background.
The flower is not seen in my country, how exciting to see these flowers all over the place. Must be wonderful sight!

Hallo Josien,

Groet Harm

Dear Josien,

excellent picture, perfectly well lighted, well composed, tack sharp and clear, showing both the widespread typically Madeiran Agapanthus and the rare and endemic Hipparchia maderensis that has just rarely been documented yet - and much more attractively presented by you here than I managed to capture it a few year ago:

My congratulations. Thank you! With best regards,

P.S.: Thank you also for your visit and very kind words to that Rosalia longhorn beetle caught in the spider web - months ago! I have to apologize for having been very inactive on this site since many weeks, and my very late reply now.
