[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Berthelots pipit. A real topmodel; rather curious than shy in front of a big lens. I met this bird at São Lourenço, in the East of Madeira.

Ponta de São Lourenço is one of the last nearly untouched places in Europe. Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces.

You can climb up the rocks and see very little evidence of man’s changes to the island. There are excellent views over both the northern and southern sides of the island and, when the weather conditions allow it, also on Porto Santo Island.

The walk to the 'oasis' (as it was called) where we found the bird was pretty heavy but absolutely stunning. The surroundings are beautiful. There was a bird watch in the oasis (but I didn't go in, as it was getting dark and the way back is just too dangerous when it's dark). There were also lots of wild canaries, goldfinches etc. so lots of things to see!

An absolutely breathtaking capture Josi! Wow, now I feel like and idiot who tried to teach you some lessons in the past! Obviously you are not an amateur at all! Bravo! Superb, natural colors, amazing point of view, incredible dept of field and composition! No doubt, the best image of the Barthelots pipit I have ever seen! No Joke! Let me challenge you however! Hallo Josien,
Ik kan me niet herinneren veel vogels op Madeira gezien te hebben, en zeker deze niet. Dit is echt klasse! Alles klopt in deze foto. Zoals je misschien weet heb een verzameling van zo'n 8 en een half duizend foto's van verschillende vogels in mijn computer, natuurlijk niet allemaal zelf gemaakt. Steeds vernieuw ik ze wanneer ik van een soort een betere zie. Maar dit is de beste van deze soort die ik ooit gezien heb. Dus wordt hij vereeuwigd.

Goede scherpte en laag standpunt, ok veel detailering.

A fine capture of a Bertelot's Pipit.
The low lateral POV is great and shows its features with excellent sharpness and colours.
