[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As exposed in my first Hoopoe shot I took more than 800 shots in a week always trying to get these guys in flight (see recent forum). Not a single one! Only this flight off. These Hoopoes have such an undulating but fast flight style that I did not get them. Still I like this one

Hi Tom,really beautiful like your last,a great capture whit perfect details despite the quick mouvement, magnificent take-off,i like it! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Pirate,
I asked myself what you did in a holiday resort in the Algarve.
Thanks for sharing the response: 800 hoopoe shots.
I like them, as I like all of your high end picture galleries on TN!

Hello Tom

Excellent photo just when his taking his flight,
the continuous clicks with following the subject
give such excellent timing photos, TFS

Hi Tom
照的清晰 這種角度我沒照過 也沒看見過
你照的很成功 令人映象深刻
構圖美麗 謝謝分享

A great photo, showing some space in front of the bird for it to fly into, sharp eye and a shallow DOF giving a good impression of movement. The background is neutral, showing off the bird well.
Maybe just adding a bit more saturation would help show off the orange head and neck.
The EXIF details show a speed of 1/3158 which looks a bit strange.

What an interesting bird! Perfect timing and good use of SS, ISO, and F stop. TFS.

hello tom,
good take off image of the hoopoe, appreciate the efforts taken

Dear Tom ,
You chose again an interesting shot, this time the take-off and I notice the crest is slightly opened. I have never worked out, when Hoopoes raise their crest ( I don't know if they raise or open the crest:-) and when they do not. In this case may be the feathers are raised for streamlining, facilitating the take off...

But they open, close the crest also when digging in the lawn... Why?!? Did you notice?

The pattern of the flight feathers is fascinating, visible thanks to your excellent point of view.

The sharp details show the bird's scruffy' neck :-)

I add your photo to my theme "Animals' Behaviour, part two"

Thanks for sharing
Hope the weather remains good,
Warm Regards
