Hello my Friends!
Today a very special picture but the day is very special too - it's my 200th post in TN gallery!!!
It is not too high number as for almost 3 years with TN, but during this period I had a great pleasure to show you pictures from 3 continents and 26 countries :>

This is also the 11th part of my Cicindelidae saga, the theme in which I would like to present different details about this interesting beetle group :>

The hero of this picture is a female of Cephalota (Taenidia) chiloleuca (Fischer von Waldheim, 1820) the species know only from Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine and S Russia. It's size is ca. 12-15mm. This species is halophilous, what means that it strongly prefers habitats salty habitats (especially salt marshes with low vegetation).

Here you can see its habitat.

As always in case of my Cicindelidae saga, I would like to provide a few facts about this group. This time something about tiger beetle fauna of the Balkan Peninsula (as the species comes from NW part of this European region):

- Tiger beetle fauna of the Balkan Peninsula is one of the richest in Europe and includes 19 species what makes 41% of European fauna.

- Fourteen different groups according to their geographical origin can be distinguished including Balkan endemics, Mediterranean, Middle Oriental, Cetral Asiatic, Euro-Siberian, South and East European, Pannonian-Sarmatian, West Palaearctic, Turano-European, and Afrotropico Indo-Mediterranean species.

- Most species have very narrow specialization and their occurrence is restricted to single habitat types in lowland areas

- Unfortunatelly, about 60% of all Balkan Cicindelidae species is exposed to threats as occurring in environments potentially endangered by human activity.

Thank you in advance for your time, visits and and comments to this picture :>

Delicado trabajo Radomir ! te felicito por ello.
Aparte de la excelente luz y la nitidez del conjunto, destacaría una conseguida y práctica profundidad de campo, realmente difícil de ver en una toma macro. Bellos y reales colores.
Un abrazo y buena semana: Josep Ignasi.

Hello Radomir !
Congratulations for your 200 th picture ! Each and every one of the is very interesting, showing us strange creatures we wouldn't have been able to see without you. The list of countries you have visited is impressive, also. Thank you for sharing all these things with us for more than 3 years. The insect you have captured here is beautiful, I like the color and markings on his back, and I like his big black eyes. Perfectly captured. Very well done !

Hi Radomir,

now you add the real sugar plums of your Cicindelid collection. The expert shows, in the technical aspects of the picture as well as in the species. I guess you kept the animal in a jar for photogaphy, or else you would still be trying to make your first shot. So well done, its awesome.

Radek, my best wishes go to you for a Happy Holiday season.

I also have tried to take picture of similar species but could not get such nice shot. Selected by you POV is simply great as well as details of the small insect and tiny sand particles. My compliments and kind regards.
