The crab spider vs Small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae)...and the bee is the outsider...
Nature is very cruel and hard.

Buna Horia,
Marius.

Hi Horia,

A butterfly, a crab spider and a bee in one frame. What are the odds of seeing this? You captured the moment perfectly with top notch colors, details and composition. The poor Tortoiseshell!

Jane

Alo Horia,

Salut Horia!

Great scene from meadow. Crab spider (female) looks rather happy with so big prey. Well taken, interesting moment. There isn't bee on flower - this is one of drone flies :-)

Hello Horia
composizione davvero eccezionale. Hai ragione davvero qundo dici che la natura č dura e crudele, ma č la natura e deve comunque avere il suo corso: ci sono prede e predatori. Ottimi dettagli e gestione della luce.

Awesome image Horia,
You have captured three insects showing exceptional detail and gorgeous natural colors. You are right, nature certainly does have it's cruel side at times. Great work!!

Hi Horia,

This is an impressive action shot. The point of view is showing the carb spider which has captured the butterfly with the bee observing the scene. It is well framed. The late morning light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

There is a line in Tennyson' poem, 'In Memoriam', that says that Nature is red in tooth and claw. This crab spider may not have teeth or claws, but echoes that line of the poem. The Small Tortoiseshell is the defenceless victim. I wonder how battle would have gone between the spider and the hoverfly?

Beautiful photography, Horia. We get 4 things for the price of one here, with the spectaor, the killer, the victim and the battle zone. I love it!

Warm greetings, Amelia
